About the event
Mid Orange correctional facility opened in 1976 as a medium security prison for the intentions of housing male inmates. It was supposed to help with the overcrowding in the state prison system. The facility was designed to provide educational and vocational programs to help rehabilitate inmates and prepare them to enter back into society. Mid orange housed all kinds of inmates including some that were convicted of serious crimes. The prison was known for its strict security measures. Over time, the facility faced issues like a lot of prisons with overcrowding, management of the inmate's behavior and funding issues. All of this led to its closing in 2011.
